I had big plans for a happy hour in The Sitting Room with my peeps this afternoon to celebrate the ratification of the 21st Amendment, but it’s down the drain. I’m fighting a bit of a cold and home today and Shmo has a go-see tonight (I’m kinda hoping they don’t adopt him; he’s been awfully affectionate lately).
Nevertheless, y’all go forth and make merry and celebrate your right to enjoy a responsible cocktail or two. Don’t mind me. I’ll just sit here and cough quietly.
Hot Whiskey
- 2oz or more of good 100-proof bourbon
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 lemon wedge
- boiling water
In a mug, mix bourbon, sugar & juice from lemon wedge. Drop in the spent wedge. Fill with boiling water and stir again to dissolve sugar. Add a whole clove if you’re feeling jaunty.
