What if they had a parade and no one watched?

From my view into Washington Square Park, it appeared attendance was quite light at today’s St. Patrick’s Day parade. Estimates say the rain drove away more than 4/5 of the crowd that has attended in years past.

I’ve never been a big fan of parades, especially exceptionally lame parades like this one. I don’t mind floats and bands and dancers and whatnot, but it seems like 9/10ths of the KC St. Pat’s parade is made up of convertibles and trucks with slogans and advertisements on the side. Those bring no joy to anyone, regardless of how many Smar-Tees are thrown from them.

  1. […] Nobody went to he St. Paddy’s Day parade […]

  2. It’s even worse on TV.

  3. That parade was once awesome.

Then it was gradually beaten to the ground by committees, crabby cops, and saggy trousered lackwits with chips on their shoulders. The weather only kicked it in the junk while it was down.

I’m sure that next year the excess committees, crabby cops and lackwits will migrate over to the Brookside Parade. Oh hurrah.

You are so right about the convertibles and ads.
