Um, can Sarah come out and play?

Tell me why Governor Palin can’t campaign on her own again? I mean, Crazy Joe DeV…Biden is stumping on his own all over the country, yet Palin continues to cling to John McCain’s jacket.

I know she has to brush up on foreign policy and stuff, though when it comes to learning things like the difference between Sunni & Shia sects, I hope she consults a more reliable source. And I know she’s getting crash-course at the “foot of the master” on matters of national security, but she’s got that jazzy “thanks, but no thanks line” line on her (final, maybe) position on the famed Bridge to Nowhere. And we mustn’t forget how mocking anyone who ever cared enough about their community to actively work to change it is huge red meat for the Republican base (though in the strictest sense, activating the call tree to bring together a few like minds to harass doctors and patients at family-planning clinics, or getting a six-pack and a couple of friends to drive around town with you so you can yell “get outta my country, spick” at people who a) may or may not be of Latin descent and b)may or may not be American citizens IS community organizing of a sort).

So why can’t she come out and play by herself? I suspect its because the McCain campaign realizes that as soon as she starts making her own way in the mean world, the fundie crowds will follow her like a flock of anxious birds hoping and praying she’ll say something to confirm their belief that she’ll do her part to bring the Rapture just a lil bit closer, leaving John Sidney McCain III to play the VFW halls and high school gymnasiums to nearly tens of sleepy elderly supporters.

I think it’ll be awhile before the Governor is allowed out on her own.

  1. Palin’s the only thing giving McCain’s campaign a bump. Without her he’s just a tired old man giving speeches presenting positions he doesn’t really believe in because he thinks that’s what the public wants to hear. It’s sad really…

And I’m not sure if anyone is aware, but I just heard that McCain was a POW in Vietnam. Was anyone aware of that?

  2. You’ve got to wonder if the Palin bump is going to have a permanent effect, though. Maybe THAT’S part and parcel of the Palin press embargo – trying to stretch out the attention suck. Either way, I think the best way for the Democrats to win this is to stop talking about Palin and refocus on McCain and how his positions echo those of the Bush administration. Less juicy and salacious than what’s going on now, but potentially crippling to the GOP.
