Thank god I never put anything aside.

Yeah, this sounds about right.

In fact, some of the most basic details, including the $700 billion figure Treasury would use to buy up bad debt, are fuzzy.

“It’s not based on any particular data point,” a Treasury spokeswoman told Forbes.com Tuesday. “We just wanted to choose a really large number.”

If we weren’t all at risk of waiting in a breadline and living in a van down by the river, that’d be pretty fucking funny.

  1. Do I have this straight?

Some financial professionals speculated using instruments unsupported by an asset of “like value.” This would not be unlike playing poker for matches instead of actual money. But since they lost, suddenly their matches = cash that needs to be refunded?

But since we’re just “making up figures,” I propose we bail out the financial experts by paying them in widgets. Their bonuses can be awarded in stickers.
