Kansas City, opinion, cocktails, snark.

I’m sleepy and happy and going to bed.

If these numbers hold, I’m disappointed in my state, but I’ve got a lot of racist hillbilly relatives so I’m not that surprised. And now, back to blogging…tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow.

  1. Yeeouch. I’m watching CNN and they’ve got 100% of MO precincts reporting showing McCain ahead by 1% percent (still haven’t called it, but he keeps pulling ahead). What a massive disappointment – I really thought a sea change for Missouri was in cards.

  2. At least we’re not Kansas.

  3. The United States just elected a black president…then even our most progressive state shoved all the gays out the back door screaming, “WE DON’T SERVE YOUR TYPE.”

I don’t recall ever feeling such a mixture of pride and disgust.

This is now 38 states with constitutional amendments against gays. That number is sufficient to pass a federal amendment.

    Chilling, no?

  4. You know, the one thing the people of this country have never outgrown is the desire to meddle.

They don’t have to know or understand the first thing about which they intend to meddle with/in (in fact, ignorance often makes their actions seem that much more ‘pure’), if it offends their vaunted “common” sense, they are b’gawd gonna fix it.

And you’ll thank them for it later.

    Later there will be pie.

  5. Apparently Liddy Dole has complained about negative advertising during her campaign.

Knowing you’re a fan of musical theater, and with apologies to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice…

    It won’t be easy
    You’ll think it strange
When I try to explain my bullshit
Hey, I still need your vote
    After all that I’ve done
    You won’t believe me
    All you will see
Is a girl you once knew
Although she’s dressed up to the nines
    Just forty-six percent of you?

I had to let it happen
    To act deranged
Couldn’t stay all my life a Tarheel
    Looking out of the window
    I am such a dumbass
    So I chose “godless”
    Running around trying everything new
This crap didn’t surprise you at all
I was surprised, but not you?

    Don’t cry for me Carolina
The truth is I never felt you
    All through my campaign
    She was a pagan
    I kept my promise
    Don’t vote for Hagan

And as for fortune and as for fame
It’s true that I married well
Though it seemed to the world
    Fame was all I desired
    It was delightful
    That’s why I’m spiteful
    I promise to be
God’s warrior here all the time
I liked you and wish you’d loved me

    Don’t cry for me Carolina

    Don’t cry for me Carolina
The truth is I never felt you
    All through my campaign
    She was a pagan
    I kept my promise
    Don’t vote for Hagan

    Did I say to much?
There’s nothing more I can think of to say to you
But all you have to do
Is look to God to know
    That every word is true
